MESSAGE FROM POPE FRANCIS, AUGUST 5

Dear Brothers and Sisters, good morning! In these last Sundays, the liturgy has shown us Jesus’ image full of tenderness, who goes to meet the crowds and their needs. In today’s evangelical account (Cf. John 6:24-35) the perspective changes: it’s the crowd, fed by Jesus, which again begins to look for Him. However, for Jesus it’s not enough that the people seek Him; He wants the people to know Him. He wants the search for Him and the meeting with Him to go beyond the immediate satisfaction of material needs. Jesus came to bring us something more: to open our existence to a wider horizon than the daily preoccupations...

MAKE AN EFFORT

Daily Mass is a wonderful way to start your day listening to the Lord at Mass and partaking of His own Body and Blood during communion. Daily Mass is at 7:30 a.m. Monday thru Thursday and at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning when the school children will be in attendance.  You may also want to consider spending some time as a community in adoring Jesus ever present in the Blessed Sacrament on every Monday beginning with the morning Mass and ending with  Benediction at 8:55 p.m. The Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) is also offered during adoration from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, May the Peace of the Risen Christ be with you! This past Sunday, at the end of Gospel, Jesus said “I am the bread of life: whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” Jesus is telling us that He is the bread of life and that we need eat of the bread of His word, we need to have an intimate relationship with Him. To do this we have to know His Word. The Word of God challenged us to look at God’s generosity and to respond in kind. His love for us is...

Weekly Bulletin

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, May the Peace of the Risen Christ be with you! On July 1, 2018, the parish began a new fiscal year. In reviewing the parish’s financial books for the fiscal year just completed, I found both good news and bad news. The good news is that that the people of this parish who attend Mass on Sunday have continued to be good stewards in supporting your parish. While we are not a wealthy parish, we were to end the year in the black. For the first time in a long time we were able to pay off the past debt to the...

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, May the Peace of the Risen Christ be with you! After the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass I went to the Athletic Club and had a hard work out. When I got back to the rectory, in an attempt to cool off, I opened the ice box (the frig) and discovered a bowl of cold seedless watermelon. I took it out and began to eat a piece after piece after piece. Boy was it good. It was so refreshing. As I was enjoying the last piece, I thought how great it is to be able to live in a country that gives me...

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, May the Peace of the Risen Christ be with you! As I was looking over some of the letters that I have written for Father’s Day, I came across one of my Little John Everett’s stories and I would like to share it with you once again. We were eating breakfast at one of the local tacorias when little John Everett climbed up into his father’s lap and rested in his father’s arms. His mother looked up and said, “Want to come to Mommy?” “No,” he responded, “I want to hold Daddy.” There was a certain comfort just resting in his father’s...

FATHERS’ DAY

Next Sunday is Father’s Day. If you want to remember your fathers, living and deceased, in a Novena of Masses, there are envelopes on the tables at the doors of the church for this purpose. Fill them out and return them in the collection basket next Sunday or take them by the parish office during the week. The best gift you can give your father on Father’s Day is to come to Mass with him.
