WHAT IS RCA?

Before you were formed in the womb, I knew you, before you came into the world I dedicated you as one who would send my message to many people.” Jeremiah 1

Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through the deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Isaiah 43

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts to a new way of life. By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church.

The process includes the exploration of Catholic beliefs, history and rituals, faith sharing, and discernment. When the individual through much prayer, reflection and discernment reaches a decision to become Catholic, he/she is welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil with the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
