The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts to a new way of life. With God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and at the proper time will receive the sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church.
The process includes the exploration of Catholic beliefs, history and rituals, faith sharing, and discernment. When the individual through much prayer, reflection, and discernment reaches a decision to become Catholic, he/she is welcomed into the Church at the Easter Vigil with the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

Who Attends?
Any adult who is interested in becoming a Catholic. This includes individuals who were not baptized or were baptized in another faith. Also, Catholics who have been baptized, but have not received the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation.
When Are the Sessions?
Sessions for OCIA are held on Sunday mornings.
Adult classes begin in the Fall (mid-September) and are in session until the Spring. If you miss the Fall registration in August, please contact the parish office for more information.
Who Leads OCIA?
A dedicated team of trained parishioners leads the OCIA sessions.
If you are in a civil marriage or have been previously married, you will be expected to make an appointment with one of the parish deacons or priests.
